Bostik product around the world

Our main brands

A woman’s needs for her feminine hygiene products can change monthly, daily, and even hourly. Producing a line of sanitary napkins that successfully meets all of her needs is no small feat.

Fortunately, our feminine hygiene adhesive experts understand consumer needs and expectations. We took a look at what she wants from her pad, and saw how in many ways the pad attachment adhesive impacts consumer satisfaction:

  • Adheres to a variety of underwear fabrics
  • Usable on an array of underwear designs (all shapes and sizes)
  • Stays in place through her every movement (both day and night)
  • Performs well, in a variety of climates (varying temperature and humidity)
  • Is discreet (no obvious lines, noise, or odour during use)
  • Detaches easily and quietly after use
  • Leaves no residue, regardless of underwear or pad material
Adhesive testing can help you get a better hold on her loyalty

To help ensure your pad attachment adhesive is meeting her expectations, pay close attention to peel, residue, and stay-in-place performance. Testing each of these critical attributes can provide producers with valuable information for their specific areas of focus. For example, residue tests help producers understand whether an adhesive detaches from the fabric of choice without leaving residue. Peel tests can help ensure that the product attaches and detaches as expected and within an acceptable range of values. It is important to note that these tests do not provide adequate insight for performance in other key areas. For example, the results of peel tests do not accurately represent stay-in-place performance, even though peel tests are often used to approximate stay-in-place.

In fact, until now, there has been no industry-standard test to evaluate how well an adhesive holds a pad in place. Since conventional wisdom wasn’t answering the need, Bostik experts saw an opportunity to innovate. If improved testing could lead to better product development, we would create a better test.

Introducing Staybility™ Testing from Bostik

Our new, patent-pending stay-in-place test method gives you the ability to see how well your pad holds on during movements that more accurately simulate her daily activities. Staybility Testing can also help identify opportunities for adhesive improvements that your sanitary napkin users, and even light incontinence pad consumers, are sure to recognise.
